Social Media Week is a bi-annual event which just happened from Sep 24-28, 2012 simultaneously in several cities around the world, among others, Berlin. SMW features talks, workshops and networking events around the topic of social networks with a special focus on advertisement and business. I attended several events and here’s my favourites:
Mark Coniglio, inventor of the award-winning real-time media manipulation tool Isadora, persented a half-day beginner’s workshop discussing strategies for creating media intensive performances. As usual Mark’s workshops are great, in particular, since he does not only shows how to operate Isadora on practical examples. Mark also shares his experiences integrating advanced video technology into an artistic context and which mistakes artists should avoid.
Recruiting Evolution – From Stone Tablet to the Cloud
Tim Oliver Pröhm, Managing Director at FlexBase gave a really interesting presentation about emerging recruiting strategies and the struggles of old-school industries. His talk can be viewed online.
IT for CEO’s what a founder absolutely needs to know about the tech side of his startup
Christoph Räthke, founder of Berlin’s Start-up Academy hosted several high-class events at SMW. The best event, however, was a series of talks from experienced entrepreneurs who gave some insight into their thinking and everyday work and explainig to new founders what the need to know about the tech side of their start-up: Stephan Schmidt (CTO brands4friends), Markus Kempkes (former manager at Microsoft and Sapient, founder) and Konstantin Mitrofanskiy (CEO Intellisoft, Kiev). Here’s the slides from the three presentations.
